What it is for
- What kind of offering this is — Manorath, Puja or Donation.
- The kind decides how the offering behaves: whether it is driven by the calendar, and what appears in the number printed on the devotee's voucher.
What it will not let you do
- Save a category without its short code, or with anything but letters and digits in it — the code becomes part of every voucher number, so it cannot carry spaces or punctuation.
- Give two categories the same code — voucher numbers would collide.
- Delete a category, whatever your role — archive it instead by unticking Active. Rates and vouchers already point at it.
