This page is ready. Everything below was written from the rules the software actually enforces, and from the tests that hold those rules in place.
What it is for
- Closes a month so the trustees' figures stop moving.
- A close is asked for by one person and approved by another: open, then awaiting approval, then closed.
- Closing freezes the month everywhere at once — no voucher, expense or settlement can be recorded, changed or removed on a date inside it.
- A month can be reopened, but never quietly: it takes a written reason, it is counted, and it is attributable.
What it will not let you do
- List the month that is still running for closing — only a month that has ended can be closed. The picker offers ended months only, the previous one first.
- List one month twice for one temple — open the entry that is there.
- Close a month while any voucher in it is still uncounted — a manager other than the collector must count that cash first. The refusal says how many and how much.
- Close a month while any count that came out over or short is still unsettled — each one needs a manager's written settlement first.
- Approve the close you asked for yourself — a different manager must.
- Approve, refuse or reopen at all without being a Premise Manager — the refusal names who does hold that authority.
- Reopen a closed month without a written reason — a month that reopens without one is the finding an auditor writes up. The reason is kept and the reopening is counted.
- Approve a close that was never asked for, refuse one that is not awaiting a decision, or reopen a month that is not closed.
